The Caves will be dressed for Halloween – can you spot all the pumpkins to get a Treat or will you be Tricked?

Halloween at RAF Manston History Museum

Halloween at Ramsgate Tunnels

On Saturday and Sunday, 29th and 30th October, Ramsgate Tunnels will be running two family friendly Halloween themed tours:

With a history as long as the Tunnels´ you can’t be sure what past stories may blend into the present, what echoes might still remain… Lights flicker, mysterious sounds, that breeze that blows past your ear in the dark….

Join the volunteers at 4pm for the family friendly Halloween Explorer Tour in the Deep Tunnel Shelters, with experienced guides who will explain the origins, construction and use of the system.

What might you find, who might you meet, as our guides highlight the significant role the shelters and the Railway Tunnel played in protecting the inhabitants of Ramsgate during the Second World War.

Marvellous Moths Morning 11AM- It’s late in the season, but join us as we check out our moth trap. What will we discover? Session includes moth crafts and a moth game. See a display of moths and butterflies – how are they different and how are they similar?

27th October:

Webs, Weave and Walk 11AM- Learn about the range of webs spiders weave and how they are formed. Weave your own simple web for a toy spider. Web hunting around the reserve.

Bats and Bones 1PM- Fun quiz – match the bones, skulls and skeletons from the museum with their former owners! Visit our bat cave. Bat game and craft.

30th October:

Halloween Scavenger Hunt 11AM-3PM- Do you dare to join in this spooky Halloween hunt? What will you spot amongst the trees?

Westgate Scarecrow Trail

October 24-21

Trail maps will be available from The Classroom Children’s Bookshop from 9:30am on the first day of the trail.

There is also a poetry competition and a drawing competition. Winners will receive a £10 gift card for the bookshop; both are free to enter.

You can also check out the awesome Halloween display at Little Brown Fairy Cake in Station Road. Staff promise to turn out in spooky outfits for the occasion.

The trail is a free event. It is £5 to enter the competition for the best scarecrow, payable at The Classroom. The winner takes all the money.
