A256 road closure expected to last until December 30

Road closure

A road closure is in place at the southbound (heading to Dover) A256 Sandwich Bypass by Discovery Park due to a burst sewer pipe.

Southern Water is on site carrying out repairs. Some 27 tankers will also be used during the works to control the sewer flow.

The road is expected to be shut between the roundabout near Co Part to the Monks Way roundabout until December 30 according to Kent Highways.

A Southern Water spokesperson said: “We’re dealing with a complex burst on a sewer pipe beside the A256 at Discovery Park, Sandwich. We’ll be starting repairs after peak flows drop this morning but the road closure in place will remain until work is complete.

“There will also be tanker traffic in the area to help us protect the environment while repairs are made. We apologise for the inconvenience and disruption our work is causing.”

Diversion – Take the exit to Ramsgate Road and follow round on to Monks Way up to the roundabout.
