Nationwide Building Society will close its Cliftonville branch next February.
The branch in Northdown Road shuts on February 21 at 3pm.
A statement from Nationwide says: “We are committed to our branch network and we always do our best to keep our branches open. But there are some places where we have more than one branch. And sometimes one of those branches is used much less than the others or will cost too much to bring up to the standards we believe you deserve. Unfortunately, that’s what’s happened in the case of Cliftonville.
“We will still have four branches within a five-mile radius, including Margate, Broadstairs, Birchington and Ramsgate.”
A letter to customers says not enough people use the branch to warrant keeping it open.
Shame…no other banking facility in Cliftonville.???
What happened to the promise not to shut down any branch before 2021
No bank… We have to go to 7 miles away… Or Broadstairs
The nearest bank is in Margate and that’s significantly closer than 7 miles away. Plus it’s only a quick bus ride away so not too bad of a commute to get to.
