Relaunching Margate’s Theatre Royal youth programme with Looping the Loop

Join the youth theatre programme

Theatre Royal and Looping the Loop will be working together to bring the best of youth theatre to Margate this autumn.

The Youth Theatre programme is led by local actor, director and playwright Darren Hill.

He said: “My sole aim is to offer a safe space where our members can explore and be creative without the worry of judgement or ridicule. These youth theatres were vital in my development as a creative and as an individual and it is essential that they continue to offer an outlet for young people in the area.

“Being involved in these groups means becoming part of a wonderful family that encourages and supports one another, not to mention the amazing opportunity to work in a beautiful theatre each week and create new and exciting work.”

Both groups will work together to present an annual show in the Theatre Royal next Spring.

The dynamic youth theatre offers a place to play, create, and grow. In the weekly sessions taking place at the historic Theatre Royal Margate, participants will learn core drama techniques while improving their confidence and communication skills, as well as making lifelong friendships. Each year young theatre makers will be part of an annual production and will tread the boards of one of the country’s oldest working theatres.
