Free art education organisation Open School East, based at Margate’s Adult Education Centre in Hawley Square, is calling for applications to its 2020 Associates Programme.
The programme is an 11 month project for emerging artists, makers, producers, researchers and writers.
It is OSE’s seventh associate programme and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds, generations and sections of the community, both with and without formal training.
The deadline for applications is Tuesday, October 1 at 12pm. An open evening about the opportunity will be held at the Hawley Square venue on Wednesday, September 18 from 6pm-7.30pm.
OSE also runs a Young Associates Programme for those aged 16 to 18 and The Despacito Art School: a weekly art, craft and functional object-making programme open to 6 to 11 year olds who lack opportunities to develop creatively.
Open School East delivers a free art education programme for those less likely to have access to traditional provision. Founded in 2013 in East London, it has established an ‘alternative art school’ model with a focus on inclusion and co-production. It moved to Cliftonville in 2017 and to Hawley Square in February of this year.
