Swim School fun

Your Leisure has hosted the first Swim School Fun Day at Hartsdown Leisure Centre, Margate. Fifty-three children between the ages of 3 to 17 and from across Thanet spent the day having a whale of a time, enjoying healthy and fun activities and games in the pool.

The fully inclusive programme of events on the day ensured all participants – from those just getting their feet wet, to children involved in Your Leisure’s Personal Survival lessons – were able to take part and enjoy life and have fun.

Lilja Olafsd, Swim School Programme Manager at your Leisure, said: “I wanted to create a day where the children could show off all the skills they had learnt in a fun and relaxed environment without the normal structure of the lesson.  Incorporating the element of play into swimming really helps children to develop water confidence, particularly for children that may ordinarily be nervous or apprehensive. I was so proud to watch all the children taking part and having a go at all the activities”.

Your Leisure’s team of qualified swim teachers were on hand to support and encourage the children to put all they have learned during their lessons into practice, as well as showing them how to work in teams to complete the challenges.

The fun didn’t stop with the pool, children also took part in organised games, had a blast with the bouncy castle and enjoyed some quiet time with tables set up for colouring. They also had food and the chance to enjoy Ollie’s Play Centre.

The Your Leisure team would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who came along and took part.
