Birchington maths whizzes

Children from four isle primary schools have taken part in a Year 6 maths competition.

The event was hosted by Birchington primary and also welcomed pupils from Minster, Monkton and St Nicholas at Wade.

Children took part in teams of two and had to answer challenging questions aimed at pupils working at the Greater Depth standard in the curriculum.

The standard of mathematics was high from everyone but Phoebe and Bella from Birchington CEP School scooped the top titles.

Birchington deputy head teacher Jonathan Forwood said, “All the children thoroughly enjoyed pitting themselves against other incredible mathematicians, they made new friends and all had a really enjoyable afternoon.”
