Man due in court charged with Ramsgate bookies robbery

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate have charged a man after Corals bookmakers was robbed in Ramsgate.

Police were called the Newington Road bookies at 2.27pm on August 30 where two people were reported to have entered with their faces covered and made threats towards a member of staff.

The pair were reported to be holding weapons when they demanded cash. The victim was not hurt during the incident but a large quantity of money was reported stolen.

Enquiries were carried out in the area, which included the review of CCTV.

Simon Bennett, 28, of no fixed address will appear in court charged with robbery.
Mr Bennett, who was arrested on Tuesday, December 11 along with two other people, is due to appear before Medway magistrates’ today (December 12).

A 30-year-old woman from Margate and a 35-year-old man from Canterbury who were also arrested have since been released pending further investigation.
