Pigs in blankets, a Santa’s Whopper burger and a foot long sausage wrapped in streaky bacon are some of the festive offerings at the Cinque Ports pub in Margate.

The menu launch takes place tomorrow (November 29) with a ‘sausage party.’ The restaurant’s new chef, Jim Thomlinson, has created an exclusive menu of 100 different varieties of pigs in blankets, including a 32 sausage ‘weenie wreath’, a foot long sausage wrapped in smoked streaky bacon, Whitstable rock oysters wrapped in crispy prosciutto and vegan options.

The brainchild of creative team Messhead, the pop up sausage party event will serve all 100 pigs in blankets variations, offering unlimited tastings for £20 per head. Tickets can be bought in person at the pub or via the Cinque Ports website. The pigs in blankets will then feature on the Cinque Ports daily rotating menu throughout December.

The event runs from 6pm to 9pm.

Jim said: “Like many people, pigs in blankets are my absolute favourite at Christmas, and it has been a long held dream of mine to create a menu filled with these tasty treats, featuring epic versions of classic pigs, as well as putting a whole new spin on the concept.

“I’m sure I’m not the only one whose idea of heaven is all-you-can-eat sausages.”

From Saturday (December 1), diners can take on ‘Santa’s Whopper’, a festive burger that is a whole Christmas dinner in a bun! Bite into a brioche bap to enjoy roast turkey, pigs in blanket and traditional sage and onion stuffing topped with tangy red cabbage slaw and festive cranberry ketchup, with delicious parsnip crisps and duck fat roast potatoes on the side.

The Festive Feasting Menu has seasonal dishes all made from local produce. Enjoy beetroot gravadlax, dill crème fraiche and rye bread for a starter; Brill Bourguignon: sautéed brill, red wine glaze, baby onions and mushrooms, and lardons and garlic mash for a main; and finish off with Champagne sorbet, blackcurrant compote and anis cracker.

Tipples on the Christmas Cocktail Menu include  Chocolate Orange Martini to  It’s a Wonderful Life, Cinque Ports’ twist on a classic Gin Alexander with a subtle taste, reminiscent of a strawberry crème chocolate.

In-house DJs will entertain every Friday, free entry. Funk Band ‘Project F’ will  be playing December 1,8 and 15 at 9pm, £5 entry (free with a Christmas dinner booking).
