Hundreds of people turned out for the big Westwood Cross Christmas light switch on event yesterday (November 16).

The switch on was carried out by Chris and Jon Clark from The Only Way is Essex  with a helping hand from Broadstairs mayor Cllr Paul Moore.

Entertainment came from Tyber, lead singer of popular band The Dualers, ABBA tribute band Björn Again, X Factor finalists Four of Diamonds, panto stars from the Theatre Royal in Margate, Pauline Quirk Academy and Westwood Cross’ Young Performer of the Year, 11 year old Mabel Walton and Battle of the Buskers Winner Big Steve.

The display features a new illuminated reindeer, swathes of twinkling lights and a snowman, Christmas pudding and elf ‘selfie pods’ to capture the most festive selfie.

The new lights scheme has approximately 75,000 LED with a total of 3,000 meters of light strings.

The new Toy Fort Grotto at the centre is now and children can meet Father Christmas and receive a special gift. It is recommended to book early
