Margate FC and St Lawrence College announce International Football Academy launch

An international football academy has been announced

Margate Football Club and St Lawrence College have announced a new partnership to deliver an International Football Academy.

St Lawrence College and Margate FC  will work together on a post 16 football academy that will give students from the UK and around the world the opportunity to study whilst training and playing at a high level.

The academy will take its first students in September 2019, with the application process open now. St Lawrence College will process all applications and will be responsible for providing education, accommodation, food, pastoral care and support needed by international applicants.

Margate FC Chairman Ricky Owen said: “This is a rare opportunity for Margate Football Club to work with such a prestigious school and I would like to thank Antony Spencer, Principal of St Lawrence College, for his work in helping set up the partnership.

“The programme aims to attract talented young players between the ages of 16 to 19, from all over the UK and around the world.   This academy is huge for the club on many levels, and we have already started working with several global partners to make this a success.”

St Lawrence College provides education for boys and girls from 3 to 18 years. The private school houses both day and boarding pupils from UK and international families.   It was founded in 1879.

Principal, Antony Spencer said: “As a school we passionately believe in the value of sport in a great education so we’re delighted to partner with Margate Football Club. Like us, they believe in high standards in all that they do, whilst having a focus on developing the talents of young people and being responsible members of the local community.”
