The trailer for a movie filmed in Thanet last Summer has been released.
Juliet, Naked an adaptation of the 2009 novel by Nick Hornby, was shot at locations in Broadstairs and Ramsgate last July and August.
The production stars Rose Byrne, Ethan Hawke and Chris O’Dowd as well as Azhy Robertson (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit), Lily Brazier (People Just Do Nothing), Ayoola Smart (Vera) and stand-up comedian Jimmy O. Yang.

The movie tells the story of Annie (played by Rose Byrne), the long-suffering girlfriend of Duncan (Chris O’Dowd), and her unlikely transatlantic romance with once revered, now faded, singer-songwriter, Tucker Crowe (Ethan Hawke), who also happens to be the subject of Duncan’s musical obsession.
Crews filmed at Kingsgate Bay, through the town in Broadstairs and on Ramsgate seafront, with the Maritime Museum being renamed Sandcliff Seaside Museum.

Star Chris O’Dowd also caused a stir in Harbour Street. A film source told The Isle of Thanet News at the time: “ “The shoot was concentrated in Harbour Street, one of the main routes down to the beach for families. So, there was lots of people stopping to watch or wanting to walk through – and when they spotted Chris O’Dowd, everyone wanted to pose with him for a quick selfie.

“Fortunately, he is a lovely man, and was happy to oblige. He was even unfazed when one family, obviously tired out after a day on the beach, just stormed through the set, rowing with each other, totally oblivious to the lights and cameras!”

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 19, and is due for USA release on August 17. It will come to the UK on November 2.
