Thanet Wanderers’ U16 player Sonny Teall scoops place at Saracens’ RFC Academy

Sonny will train at Allianz Park

St Lawrence College student and Thanet Wanderers’ U16 player Sonny Teall has won a place at Saracens’ RFC Academy.

The talented youngster aims to follow in the footsteps of players Owen Farrell and Maro Otoje.

Sonny has just returned to play for Thanet after spending a few months gaining experience in the junior ranks at the championship side Richmond.

For the past four years he has played up an age group and will return to the Wanderers U16 squad where coaches John White. and Graham Pryce have aided his development. Sonny is part of the sports excellence development programme at St Lawrence College in Ramsgate and receives further coaching from Adam Izzard.

Sonny has been part of the Kent RFU age group set-up for three years and as part of their Player Development Programme was sent for consideration to the Saracens Academy.

He has now been offered a place on their Elite Player development programme. This will involve weekly visits to Saracens’ HQ and ground at Allianz Park, Hendon in North London, where in addition to training and matches there will be regular monitoring of his fitness and progress. He will also be required to attend the gym at Canterbury weekly for professional strength and conditioning work.

Sonny will have dual registration and hopes to be regularly available for selection in the Thanet U16 side which has a Kent Cup semi final at home next Sunday against Sevenoaks.

Kick off is 11am.
