Permission has been granted to change Dunwells store in Grange Road into a residential property.
Thanet council approved the application from Bipin Patel this week. the decision was published today (January 3).
In planning documents, it says: “Over 80 years ago, this building was a single dwelling house and as part of this application, the current owner would like to change the building back into a single dwelling house.
“This application is for the change of use of the ground floor of the existing newsagent retail shop to one single family home with the erection of a front wall and gate. The neighbouring residents will not be affected by the closure of this newsagent shop as there is already a local shop (Premier) serving the local community further down the road.”
The process will involve removing the existing shopfront and installing two windows to the ground floor.
The shop and store room will be changed into a living room, study and reception/dining room.
