A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault following a disturbance at a flat in Margate.

Kent Police was called to the property in Athelstan Road at 3.11am  this morning (August 18)

Officers found a man in his 30s who had suffered multiple injuries to his head and body. He was driven to a local hospital before being airlifted to a major trauma centre in London where he remains in a serious condition.

A 40-year-old man who is known to the victim was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault. He remains in custody.

Enquiries into the circumstances behind the incident are ongoing.

  1. These incidents are becoming quite tiresome, and are not doing Thanet any good. Stabbings, hammer bashing, all becoming a fashion in this once glorious setting.
Time for tighter Police controlling this area.

  2. The most crime ridden town in Kent and you never see any Police officers on foot. There would be lots for them to do as Cliftonville is pretty lawless at times. It’s no good them sitting in cars driving past incidents taking place without noticing but that happens. It has been said a thousand times already but we need more officers on the ground in Margate, Cliftonville and Thanet as a whole.
