The Western Undercliff Regeneration Group has held its first plastic reycling beach clean

Sixteen people have taken part in the first Western Undercliff Regeneration Group plastic recycling beach clean.

The event was organised with the aim of sending all collected plastic to eco-friendly recycling company Terracycle.

The firm offers free recycling programmes funded by brands, manufacturers, and retailers around the world to help people and organisations collect and recycle waste. Participants can sign up, download free shipping labels and send waste to be recycled free.

Western Undercliff group organiser Maxine Morgan said: “16 participants scoured the beach at the Western Undercliff along to the caves at Pegwell in search of plastic.

“We didn’t find mass amounts which is really good news as the beach is a clean beach most of the time.

“The children had a fantastic time exploring the rocks and finding starfish upon starfish.”
