Film screening and media clubs for Thanet youngsters announced

A charity that works with young people through film and media will screen a film in Broadstairs this month.

Kent Film Foundation uses film to engage young people and also runs youth programmes for talented youngsters interested in film and media careers.

The charity has partnered with local film production company Violet Pictures through funding from the British Film Institute to continue a girl’s film club that began last summer through Arts Council support.

As part of International Women’s Week, the girl’s film club will be screening the documentary film they devised, filmed and directed themselves following their experiences of performing their Shakespeare’s Women show at Ramsgate Tunnels as part of the Ramsgate Festival last summer.  The documentary is 45 minutes long and is screened alongside their first music video, Little Trinkets by Ramsgate singer-songwriters Melodie and Lucy Karczewski, which is directed by Georgi Holter from Margate.

Kent Film Foundation will be running several new film clubs for youth based in the area. The foundation is highly regarded and attracts professional film mentors and guest speakers from a range of film and television industry professionals through its impressive network.
