Police and a fire crew were called to Walpole Bay today after a car became stuck in water at the tidal pool.
Despite efforts to pull the silver vehicle on to the beach it was stuck fast. Margate fire crew got a man out of the car.
Kent Police have arrested a 22-year-old man from Cliftonville on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink.
Resident Rob Whiteman took these photos of the attempted rescue after he had called in emergency services.
A Kent Police spokesman said: “Kent Police received a report that a car had gone into water in Palm Bay Avenue, Margate, at 12.22pm.
“Officers have attended the scene, along with crews from Kent Fire and Rescue Service who got a man out of the car.
“No injuries have been reported however a 22-year-old man from Cliftonville has been arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink.”
The vehicle is currently awaiting recovery.
