Man and teens arrested after 16-year-old boy stabbed in Ramsgate

Police are investigating after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed in Ramsgate on Wednesday (August 12).

The teen was assaulted during a disturbance in Harbour Street. Police and paramedics attended the scene and the victim was taken to hospital. He has since been discharged.

The offence was reported to police at 6.30pm and a 41-year-old man and two 16-year-old boys were arrested. The three remain in custody. An 18-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of affray and has since been bailed.

Police and medics were spotted in the Turner Street area of the town following the incident.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “It was reported to Kent Police at 6.30pm on Wednesday 12 August that a 16 year old boy had been assaulted earlier that day, following a disturbance near Harbour Street in Ramsgate town centre.

“Officers and paramedics attended and the teenager was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries consistent with stab wounds. He was later discharged.

“A 41 year old man and two sixteen year old boys from the local area were arrested on suspicion of assault and taken into custody, where they remain pending further enquiries.

“An 18 year old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and was later conditionally bailed.”

A local neighbourhood policing team officer added: “Incidents of this nature are deeply concerning for both the public and police alike, and please be assured that we take them extremely seriously.

“Officers provided immediate first aid to the victim at the scene, and extensive work has been taking place behind the scenes since the incident occurred.

“As part of the investigation, four males have been identified and arrested. Whilst these arrests are a significant step forward for any investigation, enquiries remain ongoing and the investigation continues.”
