Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information following a serious assault in Ramsgate.
At 1.48am on Saturday (2 August) a man was involved in an altercation in Harbour Parade. He was attacked with a blunt object by a man not known to him.
The suspect left the scene before patrols had attended and the victim required hospital treatment. He has since been discharged.
Officers have carried out a number of lines of enquiry, including house-to-house enquiries and an in-depth review of all available CCTV footage.
Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the altercation or who may have information about the incident.

We actually went there today, on the open-top bus from Minnis Bay to Cliffsend – which I can highly recommend.
We then walked to Ramsgate Station, really lovely along the seafront to the Lookout Cafe – and dreadful once we cut inland passed boarded up and rotting ex-shops, with youngsters openly smoking unlawful substances. So yes, Ramsgate can be heaven… as long as one stays near the seafront (at one time we would’ve stopped at Corby’s Tearooms, but it’s even worse at that end now).
An assault in Ramsgate … Shocked I am.
Almost every week we read of an assault in Ramsgate, where are the Police? They need to get out of their cars and walk the streets, they are paid to keep the peace after all.

These were all AFTER the crime had been committed – the most effective way to fight crime is to prevent it happening in the first place, and that is best served by officers on the beat.

And have there been any disturbing news stories about people being mugged or having their phones snatched in broad daylight while minding their own business? Or are most of these stories about events between 1am and 4am?
