A Conservative member at Thanet council has stepped down from her role to concentrate on her business.
Sam Bambridge represented Thanet Villages Ward and was the Conservative Party Shadow Cabinet Member for Community.
She resigned from her seat on Friday (March 14).
Ms Bambridge had served on Thanet council for 10 years but says she resigned her role “after a lot of consideration.”
She added: “My recruitment business, Artemis, has become so busy over the last year that I simply couldn’t do both jobs well. Something had to give and I decided to let go of my position at TDC.
“I’ve been a Councillor for 10 years now and have been really grateful for the opportunity to serve the residents of Thanet, but for now the role is better served by someone that has the time to dedicate to it.
“The Thanet Villages have been great to work with and I wish them luck in finding a proactive, dedicated councillor in the upcoming by-election.”
During her time as a councillor Ms Bambridge, who lives in Manston, has been a long-term supporter of Manston Airport, has opposed new housing on prime farmland and has promoted the need for inward investment, better public transport and improved road quality and safety.
A by-election for the seat will take place at the same time as the County Council elections on May 1.
The current make up of the council is: 31 Labour; 15 Conservative; 5 Green; 3 Thanet Independents, 1 Independent and one vacant seat.

No doubt if the government’s latest round of kill the poor rehash of the Tories under Cameron get passed by Starmer, making threats/bribing those in his party threatening to rebel over them-knowing it guarantees losing their positions, then the recruitment agencies will be incredibly busy with DWP referals/contracts to find people unable to even physically wash themselves etc jobs somehow, or at least pretend they can-while they starve them to death by cutting their money in half to fund Ukraine, or some scam energy scheme or suhlike in Europe.

Still, accoriding to him there will be plenty of jobs at Manston when it gets opened again. The same thing he said in the late 1990’s for Wiggins & then quickly backtracked when it actually did open & after the other failed companies which likewise employed very few people & very few full time all went bust costing the taxpayer a fortune & Gloag came along & bought it for a quid 16 years later, asset stripped it & gave up, before you had two companies suddenly willing to spend hundreds of millions fighting over this cash bleeding entity.

A mass auction of equipment used at Manston airport is to take place later this month. The site’s owners Kent Facilities Limited – owned by Stagecoach founder Ann Gloag – are putting dozens of items under the hammer following the closure of the airport in May.
Lots include boarding steps, an aircraft de-icer, mobile baggage conveyors, Land Rovers and specialist fire engines. Several items from the terminals are also for sale, including metal detectors, baggage scanners and even rows of seats.
Interested bidders will be allowed to view the kit up for sale at the airport near Ramsgate on Wednesday, July 23 and Tuesday, July 29, by appointment only. They are being sold online by Lincolnshire-based auctioneers Peaker Pattinson on Wednesday and Thursday, July 30 and 31.
Their advert also indicates that items from the control tower will be for sale in September. The auction has been condemned by Thanet North MP Sir Roger Gale but he says it is likely to galvanise support to get the airport reopened.

When it closed, it owed £100M. It was losing £10,000 a day.
The huge debts were far in excess of the very modest sum derived from the sale of clapped out equipment.

I think the villages will miss this diligent councillor, who has done so much for the community,but perhaps if a lamp standard or a stray dog,offers themselves for election,these might be better options.Yes,Ms Bambridge puts a new meaning in ‘supporting ‘ Manston.
I could suggest that she is not alone in councillors jumping ship,and that there is an epidemic of councillors and MPs deciding on their own volition to tell those who voted for them,that they are ratting on the solemn obligation they made when elected.This is not right and gives politics an dreadful reputation for chicanery and self interest.
Funny how she changed wards to a Tory safe seat when after voting to retain aviation only at the old Manston airport led to a large number houses that were due to go there being relocated to her old ward

To answer your question,no I do not dislike successful persons of either gender,but I do think they are not necessarily the right stuff to be councillors,MPs or to lead a disruptive organisation like DOGE.

Interesting seeing Councillors leaving their role as they prioritise a working wage.
Looks like the 16% of increases to Councillor allowances voted in by Labour in their first 12 months in power weren’t that effective after all.
