A 19-year-old man from Ramsgate has been arrested over assaults in Margate where a group of people were sprayed with a substance thought to have been peroxide.
Shortly before 1.15am on Saturday 9 November, a group of people were in Mansion Street, which runs between Fort Road and The Parade, where it is reported a man sprayed them with “a strong alkali” causing two people to suffer facial injuries and a further two to suffer reddening and irritation to their faces or chest. Five people were sprayed in total.
Officers attended and seized a bottle believed to have contained the substance used.
Today (11 November), a 19-year-old man from Ramsgate was arrested on suspicion of assault. He currently remains in custody while enquiries continue.
