The Libertines, have announced a hometown show as part of the Margate Summer Series next year.
The gig on Saturday, 5 July 2025 will be the band’s debut performance at Dreamland, with special guests Soft Play, and Sports Team.
Emerging in the late ’90s through the post-Britpop scene, The Libertines introduced a fresh wave of London bohemianism with their gritty tunes. At the heart of the band is the brotherly bond between Pete Doherty and Carl Barat supported by the solid rhythm section of John Hassall and Gary Powell.
The bandmates have been involved with the isle community since they bought the former Palm Court Hotel in 2017 for £458,000.
They renamed it The Albion Rooms and set about a three year transformation creating a studio, hotel rooms, bar and restaurant at the five storey Victorian building.
Two decades after their landmark debut Up the Bracket, The Libertines continue to make music and last year they released All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade, their first album in nine years and their fourth together.
The album was created at The Libertines studio in The Albion Rooms with video shot across Margate.
