The Sarah Thorne Theatre in Broadstairs will be hosting the first of a series of drop in sessions at the site on Saturday 4 July, between 3pm and 7pm.
The aim of the sessions will be to update residents, supporters and potential sponsors on the progress of plans to modernise the theatre, and what that may look like.
The theatre had been put up for auction by Kent County Council last year and was being advertised with a guide price of £350,000 with vacant possession for the pottery and tenanted possession of the Memorial Hall by the Sarah Thorne Theatre Company CIC.
It didn’t sell during the auction but an offer was accepted afterwards with theatre founder and director Michael Wheatley-Ward becoming the new owner.
Michael said: “The community was delighted when they knew the theatre site had been acquired. Whilst that finished one part of our journey, it began another, equally challenging chapter, raising money for much needed refurbishment and preparing to secure the long term future of the theatre in community hands.
“Famously, the 4th of July celebrates Independence Day for the USA. For us this is Independence Day, as we invite colleagues from The Granville, Theatre Royal, Inspiration Theatre and Coastal Community Learning to display their stories alongside ours, as we all bring better theatrical experience to the community here in Thanet.”
Drop in for coffee, light refreshments and a chat at the Theatre in Broadstairs and receive a warm welcome and a range of information for theatre lovers.
