A multi-agency operation was launched today (June 24) after an alert that two young children, believed to be just four years old, were swept out by the sea at Ramsgate harbour.
Margate and Deal Coastguard teams, the search and rescue helicopter, police and Ramsgate RNLI were called in at around 3-27pm.
But the two children were rescued by brave teenagers, named as Harley Hamilton, 17, Oscar Peto, 17, and Riley, who jumped in the save them before crews arrived.
One witness said: “One jumped off the pier to save them with not a care about his own life and the two others went running into the water and pulled them out while others pulled the life buoy from the top.”
Harley (pictured) added: “This was me and my friend Oscar and another boy who is called Riley. Please deliver a message- watch your kids near water it’s not safe.”
Harley’s mum Nicola said: “They are absolute superheroes. I’m too proud for words.”
A HM Coastguard spokesperson said: “At around 3.27pm today, HM Coastguard was made aware of two children in difficulties in waters off Ramsgate Harbour.
“An HM Coastguard Search and Rescue Helicopter was sent, along with Ramsgate lifeboat, Kent Police, and Coastguard Rescue Teams from Margate and Deal.
“The youngsters were rescued to safety by members of the public before emergency services arrived on scene.”

Just 4 years old? Where the heck was the parents doing ? obviously not watching there children brains of a rocking horse water near by young children = disaster if not watched
