Active Ramsgate returns for the half-term break from May 25 to June 1 with a range of activities- from restorative massages to invigorating sea kayaking – and all for free.
A range of children’s and family friendly experiences are on offer, such as tokens for Frankie’s on the Beach fun fair, beach-based kite surfing lessons with Kite Pirates , Seashore Safari and Scavenger Hunt and Beach Art with Thanet Coast Project, Circus Skills for little ones at Ellington Park with This Bean Spins, family yoga on the beach with Charlotte Ellis and, new for 2026, skateboarding taster sessions with Margate’s Scorcha Skate School at Warre Recreation Ground.
May is National Walking month and there are several guided hikes and walks to choose from – get a full body work out when you learn Nordic Walking; discover local fauna and fauna with nature expert Keith Ross.

Walk to Broadstairs with Girl Hike, a feminist collective that aims to make hiking more joyful for women; learn about local architecture, history and the new 338 Standing with Giants installation with local guide Ant Wright.
If you prefer cycling to walking, there are free bike hires courtesy of Harbour Bikes on Military Road, Colin of Col’s Kent Bike Tours is offering nervous riders a ‘Cycling with Confidence’ session, as well as rickshaw rides with some local history thrown in for passengers to enjoy.
Pickleball returns to Spencer Square Tennis Courts with coach Sheena Maclean-Bell and introducing ‘Disc Golf’ – an easy to learn, accessible sport at Warre Rec on the same day as Scorcha Skate School (Wednesday 27th May) – why not be amongst the first in Thanet to give it a go?

The weather is looking good for those interested in watersports- Canoe Wild will guide a sea kayak tour, hopefully catching sight of a seal or two, Haywood Sports can help to improve your stand-up paddle board skills, or sit back and take in the view as Go2Sea’s boat tours the lovely local beaches and bays.
If all of the above sounds far too active and you need to relax, how about a multi-instrumental sound bath with Eleanor Yankah at the Italianate Glasshouse in George VI Park? Or soothing massages from The Recovery Well or beach yoga with Charlotte Ellis?
Spaces are limited and offered on a first come first served basis so register your interest via the link below and Visit Ramsgate will be in touch to confirm if you have secured a spot.
