A prolific repeat offender from Ramsgate who targeted retailers across Thanet and Folkestone for more than two years has been banned from every TK Maxx store in the county after Kent Police secured a two year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) against him.
Karl Brazier Denning, who also received a prison sentence for the offences, carried out a sustained shoplifting spree, stealing hundreds of pounds’ worth of goods from supermarkets and high street retailers between 2024 and 2026. He entered stores, filled baskets with items, and walked out without making any attempt to pay.
Between January 2024 and January 2026, he repeatedly targeted Tesco stores in Thanet and Folkestone, stealing alcohol, meat, wine and salmon, with losses estimated at more than £420.
From September to November 2025, he moved on to Boots stores in Ramsgate, Folkestone and Margate, taking large quantities of cosmetics. During one incident on 15 February 2025, he pushed staff into outdoor tables and chairs as they attempted to stop him and claimed to be carrying a weapon. In a single visit, he stole £215 worth of cosmetics.
Beginning in November 2024, Brazier Denning also targeted TK Maxx at Westwood Cross, stealing clothing and jackets on several occasions, with losses estimated at around £500.
He was arrested on 13 March 2026 for a separate incident. While in custody, officers linked him to numerous outstanding shoplifting offences, and he was remanded. He was ultimately charged with 32 counts of shoplifting, four burglaries, two common assaults and one count of criminal damage.
On 26 March, Brazier Denning, of Newcastle Hill, Ramsgate, was sentenced to 11 months in prison.
Kent Police applied for a Criminal Behaviour Order on 29 April 2026 which was granted by Margate Magistrates Court.
The order bans the 32-year-old from entering any TK Maxx store in Kent, as well as several other repeatedly targeted stores, and imposes additional restrictions designed to curb his offending.
Any breach of the order will result in further criminal penalties, including the possibility of returning to prison.
