A Broadstairs seven-year-old is hoping to win this year’s Mini Miss Glamour title – and has raised funds for pageant charity of the year Pilgrims Hospices by selling her teddies and toys.
Cliftonville Primary pupil Melody Hall, who is ‘gymnastics mad’ and “loves school, loves life and animals and family,” made her debut at the pageant last year, achieving an impressive runner-up position.
This year she returns and hopes to clinch the top spot.
The competition takes place over two days. The first day includes interviews and a themed Wild West party, giving contestants the opportunity to meet, build friendships, and gain confidence.
The second day is the main event, where Melody will take to the stage to showcase her grace and elegance in an evening gown, followed by a fun fashion round where she can express her vibrant personality.
Mum Jade said: “We do the pageants to give Melody some real world experience – public speaking, not always winning, interview practice, presentation an making friends.
“Melody has an age appropriate platform called Be kind – where she encourages kindness every day, she writes kindness cards and gives them out to her peers at school as she doesn’t use social media
“She also values the friendships she makes along the way.
“Miss Glamour UK is a national contracted pageant and this year’s chosen charity is Pilgrims Hospices.
“A minimum of £20 raised is the requirement for entry. Melody has sold her teddies and toys and collected the money in a collection pot. This has been delivered back to Pilgrims and now we await confirmation how much she has raised.”
Pilgrims Hospices is a charity providing palliative care, free of charge, to people in east Kent. For people with a range of life-limiting illnesses, specialist services are provided from three hospices in Canterbury, Ashford and Thanet, in patients’ homes and via community programmes.
The pageant finals will be held on May 23rd and 24th in St Margaret’s at Cliffe.
