A multi agency rescue has saved a dog cut off by the tide at Dumpton Gap this morning (January 16).
The dog, thought to be a Malinois/Alsatian cross, was spotted earlier in David’s Close and Dumpton Park Drive looking distressed and running loose.
It then was then reported to be seen cut off by the tide at Dumpton Gap.
The launch request for Ramsgate RNLI came through at 8.41am from HM Coastguard with the inshore lifeboat Claire and David Delves launching at 8.52am and proceeding to the area at Dumpton underneath the park.
Two of the volunteer crew were put ashore and approached the dog which they were able to put a lead on. They then waded through the water to the beach area where the animal was handed into the care of the Coastguard and a Police Dog Handler.
The lifeboats and crew then returned to Ramsgate and were back on station at 9.40am.
The dog warden is reportedly on his way to collect the dog.
Good humans, i saw this dog mentioned on a local FB group, and to see the effort and care put into rescuing such a fine ,scared animal warms my heart..thank you good humans
Hopefully it’s chipped and registered and as a result the owner gets billed for the costs incurred. If it’s not chipped , then quite when are the laws going to enforced? All a bit pointless otherwise.
this i the second case like this recently , i dont understand why people have these dogs if they cant be bothered to take care of them ?
