Bell Meadow was buzzing with excitement and the glorious warmth of a summer afternoon this past Sunday as the 2025 St. Nicholas-at-Wade and Sarre villages rounders competition reached its thrilling climax.
Teams, having meticulously honed their skills through dedicated training regimes, arrived in peak form, ready to battle for village supremacy.

A nail-biting playoff ensued, with the Sandalwood Swipers ultimately emerging victorious and securing their spot in the final.
The second section proved equally hard-fought. However, Wantsum Smashers delivered a masterclass, dominating their opponents with an impressive display of batting prowess to secure their well-deserved place in the grand finale.
The final was everything a rounders enthusiast could hope for. The Sandalwood Swipers took to the bat first but were met by the formidable fielding of Wantsum Smashers.
With some truly incredible feats of athleticism and precision, the Smashers managed to restrict the Swipers to two rounders, setting a challenging target.
Needing three rounders for victory, Wantsum Smashers stepped up to the plate. The Swipers, determined to defend their score, put up an amazing fight in the field, initially restricting their opponents.
However, the sheer talent and composure of Wantsum Smashers shone through. They ultimately secured a superb win, capping off a memorable day of village sport to become the 2025 St. Nicholas-at-Wade and Sarre villages rounders champions.
