Westgate’s Picnic in the Park takes place this Saturday (July 19).
The annual event, organised by the town council, will include face painters, two different Punch & Judy shows, a magic show, a street football crew, a circus workshop, big bubbles, and arts and crafts. There will also be a DJ playing music all through the afternoon.
Westgate Town Council has invested in a huge Teddy Bear costume to be the event mascot, “hiding” councillors and staff inside and providing lovely photo opportunities for families.
The event is free of charge. All costs for the entertainers are paid for by Westgate-on-Sea Town Council.
A council spokesperson said: “The ethos is that it is a family-oriented picnic, with the council providing an action-packed event that we hope will be the highlight of children’s summer holiday!”
The picnic is being held at the Lymington Road Community Centre Green this Saturday, from noon-4pm.
Bring a blanket, picnic and Teddy.
