Punch Pubs are searching for a new tenant to take on The Bell Inn in St Nicholas-at-Wade.
Punch Pubs say the ingoing cost would be £12,313 and rent is listed as £919pw.
The company says it recently invested in the venue which has a dining room at the back of the pub with a snug room that sits ten.
There has been a pub at the site since 1622 and The Bell is described as “ a quirky building split into four rooms with a roaring fire at the front, making it welcoming on a chilly day.”
Punch Pubs say: “We’re seeking an experienced food operator with acute diligence to delight every guest during each visit. Locally sourced food is the key to making this pub’s success.
“You’ll be a people person who knows each of your locals by name, what they drink and where they like to sit. A proven record of bringing your pub to life on social media is also a plus.
A three bedroom living area is provided with the pub.
It is being offered on a Flexible Tenancy agreement for a total term of up to 5-years with a flexible notice period.
The forecasted annual wet turnover is £264,858 and food turnover of £233,991.
It used to be one of my favourite pubs – I even took my now-wife there on our first date 9 years ago! Sadly, it became very inconsistent. We went there in July, and both food and service were exceptional, but when we returned 6 weeks later it was diabolical, with almost inedible food and a “service” by a very surly, unsmiling waitress. It was the first time we’d ever complained about a meal there, yet the landlady didn’t even come to apologise or offer to reduce the bill. Hope whoever takes it on brings it back to its old self.
Peter – whoever takes The Bell on will need deep pockets – the quoted rent etc is eye watering! Like you, was one of our favourite pubs.
The Sun Inn opposite closed due to lack of trade, so the people running The Bell took that on too, effectively becoming in competition with themselves! Would’ve been much better if they’d let The Sun Inn become housing or whatever.
Going off a pal in St Nic, good luck if you take this on, they’re allegedly passing the lease on cause they know its commercially non viable in a location with little, to no passing footfall and an ever growing population that is rejecting alcohol en masse.
