A love of shopping, fashion and a mum who was a Biba model are the influences behind a new designer dress agency and boutique opening in Ramsgate on March 1.
Swag in Addington Street is packed with clothes and accessories ranging from Louis Vuitton. Gucci and Moschino to Zara and Calvin Klein.
Boss Mandy Tite is offering new stock and will also be running the dress agency service where people can sell pre-loved, designer pieces through the shop with a 50/50 split on sale.
The 58-year-old returned to the isle last year after a 10 year stint working away but prior to that ran the 50/50 dress agency in Cliftonville’s Northdown Road.
The mum-of-one said: “My mum was a Biba girl and I have always had an eye for fashion like her. I just love shopping for unusual things and I think we do not have enough of these types of shops.
“I love it and I wanted other people to love it.”
Mandy, who was an estate agent based in Broadstairs for 24 years, says Swag only stocks one of any item and she sources a lot of goods on her travels.
She said: “I source online but also by travelling to America, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, looking stuff, buying bits and bobs that I see in quirky boutiques.”
Swag is currently stocked with items collected by Mandy but there will also be clothing and accessories from customers which will mean the offering will change constantly.
Mandy said: “I will be building on my stock as ladies bring things in so it will be ever evolving. One week to another there will be totally different stuff.”
Mandy says her favourite brands are Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Chanel and Moschino. There are also high end street brands such as Jasper Conran and Zara but the aim is for unique pieces that are affordable.
Swag will open on March 1 from 10am to 7pm. The launch will include champagne, nibbles and a raffle to win a £300 voucher for the shop.
