Two teenager have been arrested after a man in his 30s was assaulted in Ramsgate during the early hours of today {February 1}.
Kent Police was called shortly before 1am to a report that a dispute had broken out between two groups of people in Broad Street, near to the junction with Hardes Street.
It was reported that the man was assaulted by a group of males before the group dispersed and left the scene.
Officers attended and carried out enquiries. South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended and treated the man for injuries not considered to be life-threatening.
A short while later, officers arrested two 16 year old boys from the area in connection with the incident. They remain in custody pending further enquiries.
An investigation is ongoing and anyone with relevant information, including dashcam or mobile phone footage, should call Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting 46/17906/25.

I say, steady on, not that bad until a couple of years ago, but Ramsgate still has lots of good stuff to offer.
As a relative newcomer to Ramsgate, I’m afraid I cannot agree with you, “real world” and Paul. People have been very very friendly and welcoming , and it’s a very pretty old town.

After watching teenagers on bikes and scooters deliberately aiming at pensioners coming out of charity shops in Ramsgate at 2 O’Clock in the afternoon on Thursday, this does not surprise me at all! Where are the police or community wardens??? I like the seafront, but me and my mrs will NEVER venture into Ramsgate town centre again.

The community wardens can be seen often wondering around the westcliff where it’s quiet and trouble free .I live up that way and see them alot .up near the Abbey toilets and lookout cafe .🤔

Good parenting 2 sixteen yr old SCHOOL BOYS out at 1am . Getting in trouble .paired up no doubt to assault 1 person really tuff of them .on there own they will claim to be sweet and innocent .Nothing but yobs .that make our streets unsafe .

Try telling that to the elderly couple who were – quite literally – shaking with fear the other day. Little wonder that NO businesses have moved into the once great and now empty buildings like Corbys and The Modern Boulangerie… which closed thanks to you lot burying your heads in the sand and pretending that everything’s fine.
Did you do anything to stop these teenagers, Peter Checksfield? Did you take photos of them and inform the police?

Considering the dreadful things you’ve said about Ramsgate and its residents, I’m not surprised that you were quaking in your boots as you tried the town’s streets.

I don’t think they “recognised” the other pensioners they were terrorising. Still, you continue making light of it. You have the town you deserve.
Jay- Thank you for your advice. I think you are probably right.
Peter Checksfield a couple of facts. Corbys was a business built by Pat and Len Corby. Like so many businesses built by their creators when sold on (as in this case Pat and Len retired) because their personalities have gone the business goes down. That on top of Covid caused its decline. The Modern Boulangerie is in negotiation to be used by someone with a good business brain unlike the previous business which was mismanaged. Unfortunately so many who gave their hard earned cash to suport this huge venture lost it all.
I’m not disputing any of that. My point is, that when shops became empty in Broadstairs and Birchington (and to an extent Westgate), more often than not someone else will move into them within a couple of months – even if it’s just cafes, barbers and charity shops. Corby’s closed 17 months ago, but there seems to be nothing happening, and how long was the former Busy B’s shop empty in Ramsgate? 12, 15 years? Yet Herne Bay – which is far from perfect – still has two branches.
Peter Checksfield – Did you do anything to stop these alleged would-be pensioner-attackers? Did you take photo of them s or get in touch with the police or physically try to stop the teenagers from trying to knock people down? Which charity shops were they coming out of?
Or is the comment you made yesterday just another exaggeration?

Mr Checksfield, I’m afraid ,you are misinterpreting my earlier comment. Of course if there really were teenagers trying to knock people down(that is what “aiming at pensioners” means, isn’t it?), that kind of behaviour can’t be looked on with anything but disapproval.
I’m surprised, however, that you did nothing at all to stop it. Didn’t you even shout at them?
Again, no. Why would I? They looked high as kites, they may have had knives – and, far, far more importantly – I have my wife with me. So we simply scarpered, and will never, ever return.
