A woman in her 90s was sadly pronounced dead at the scene when firefighters were called to a house blaze in Ramsgate on Christmas Eve.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a house fire in Dorothy Drive at 2.14pm. Kent Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service were also in attendance.
A KFRS spokesperson said: “Four fire engines attended and sadly a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.”
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
Crews completed operations at 4.41pm.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called at 3.05pm on Tuesday 24 December to the scene of a fire at an address in Dorothy Drive, Ramsgate, that had been extinguished by Kent Fire and Rescue Service.
“Officers attended the premises where a woman in her 90s was confirmed to be deceased. Her death is being treated as non-suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner.”
The woman’s next of kin have been informed.
