Monkton pupils get messy at Mini-Mudder

Monkton Mini-Mudder

Children at Monkton CofE Primary School took part in their first ever sponsored  Monkton Mini-Mudder this week to raise money for new playground equipment.

Children in Years 1 – 6, braved the conditions to splodge through the ‘Paddling Pool of Muddy Doom’ and penguin slide on their tummies when passing through the ‘Mudslide Adventure’.

In total, £1200 was raised with donations still coming in thick and fast.

Head of School Chris Marston said: “The children really threw themselves into it! They loved getting muddy and having the freedom to splash in muddy puddles. They also raised an amazing amount which will help us buy more playground equipment to support children’s learning and play at break and lunchtimes.”

Parents were also invited to come and watch and enjoy seeing their children get muddy from head to toe. One parent said: “This has been brilliant. It’s not just great because of the fundraising but you can see their confidence grow in their body language. My child is normally so quiet but they’re howling with laughter whilst doing star jumps in the muddy puddle.”
