Developer to hold drop-in event over plans to build on fields off Chalk Hill

A developer will hold a consultation event next month over plans to build on land at the rear of Chilton Primary School.

In a leaflet to residents Fernham Homes outlines two agricultural fields and a small woodland, scrub area off Pegwell Road and Chalk Hill although no indication is given of how many properties are planned.

The site is in a ‘special landscape area’ which is protected for its open views and sits close to a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Fernham Homes, established in 1999, has developments in Kent, Sussex, Surrey and Greater London.

The company will hold the public drop-in event on Tuesday, September 10 between 3pm and 6pm at St Laurence Parish Hall, St Lawrence, Ramsgate.

The leaflet says the informal drop-in is to find out what residents would want at the site. A planning application has not yet been submitted to Thanet council.

In 2020 permission to build six bungalows on a neighbouring plot at Pegwell was refused.
