Sandwich Technology School says Year 13 have secured the school’s best ever A Level results by achieving an average grade of C-.

Results are significantly higher than last year and as a result have eclipsed the record results of the 2023 cohort. A quarter of students’ grades across the cohort were the top grades of A*, A and B (or equivalent for applied qualifications).

Mr Sharples, Deputy Headteacher, said: “We offer a very academic curriculum in the sixth form and students have performed well across a range of rigorous A Level disciplines. “Equally students have achieved very well in vocational subject that have set them up well for the world of work.

“I am especially pleased with how our A Level results have improved over time. If you discount the three years during the pandemic where results were delivered differently we have a clear improving trend from 2018 to 2019 to 2023 and now record results in 2024. “Well done to the students and the teachers who have guided and inspired them. I also want to recognise the integral role played by parents in this success as they have provided invaluable support at home.”

Students performed particularly well in Biology, Geography, History, Media Studies, Photography, Product Design, Art and Religious Studies A Level.

In Vocational subjects students did extremely well in Finance, Sports Studies and Health and Social Care.

In Performing Arts all students achieved either a Distinction or the highest available grade of Distinction*.

Following on from the recent successful production of Matilda and the Create event in July the school says the results highlight once again the strength of the Arts at Sandwich Technology School. In total, 12 subject areas achieved higher results than in 2023.

Mrs Stone, Head of Sixth Form, said: “Our students’ results reflect their aspiration, effort and resilience as well as their teachers’ professional expertise. We have got to know them very well as individuals during their time in the sixth form and have appreciated their good character and personal attributes as well as their academic prowess.

“I wish them all the very best in the next stage of their lives.”
