Kent Fire & Rescue Service continues to investigate the cause of a blaze that ripped through K Laundry in Ramsgate last month but says there is “nothing to suggest… the fire was suspicious at this time.”

The fire service first attended the blaze at 4.28am on July 23. At the height of the incident 12 fire engines, the height vehicle and a bulk water carrier were in attendance.

Those living and working in the area were advised to keep doors and windows shut due to the smoke.

Operations were scaled down by 11am  to four fire engines and a height vehicle and then, by 2.30pm, to two vehicles. Crews worked throughout the night damping down the scene and eventually finished at 11.15am on July 24.

A KFRS spokesperson said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service has been investigating the cause of the fire, but it is currently indeterminate. There are still a few other avenues being investigated but it is not clear when these will be completed.

“There is nothing to suggest the cause of the fire was suspicious at this time.”

The commercial laundry and linen hire specialist was founded in 1928 and still operated from the original site.
