Sadness at death of ‘beautiful and kind’ Louey Davey following tragic accident in Broadstairs

Louey was a kind and caring young man

A mum has spoken of her “beautiful, friendly and kind” son who tragically died in a collision in Fairfield Road, Broadstairs, last Sunday (July 21)

Louey Davey, 26, from Broadstairs, was crossing when he is understood to have collapsed and was impacted by a passing vehicle.

His devastated mum Ellen Hendrick said: “Louey was beautiful, friendly, kind and would help anybody even though he had his own mental health battles. He suffered for so long but he was always there for everybody else and put other people before himself.

“I have got so much solace from my beautiful friends and from my lovely friend Matt who is fundraising to help with the funeral, although it won’t be a funeral, it will be a celebration of his life.”

Former Charles Dickens student Louey loved gaming, animals and all kinds of music. He had also tried Motocross with his dad.

Ellen said: “He just loved being with people and laughing, he was amazing when he laughed.”

Ellen rushed to the scene when the accident happened. Louey was taken to QEQM Hospital and then on to King’s in London but he did not survive.

Ellen said: “They (medical staff) were all amazing, everybody at the hospital was fantastic but his injuries were too catastrophic.

“When I had rushed up there (Fairfield Road) and saw him, I knew he had already gone.

“It was just a horrible accident and I feel for the poor guy who was driving the car.”

Louey was an organ donor and four organs have been matched, with one being to a child.

Ellen said: “He had four positive matches and they said that doesn’t happen often. One is for a child, so after this accident Louey is still giving life and I am so proud of him.”

Family friend Matt Day has created a fundraiser to help Louey’s family with funeral costs.

Matt said: “He was the kindest soul. He had the heart of an angel and whether you were happy or sad Louey would accommodate you and just be there for you.

“He has donated four organs and that is something we can take comfort in.”

Police continue to investigate the collision. The vehicle did stop at the scene.

Witnesses are urged to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538 or email [email protected] quoting reference XX/DH/080/24. Dashcam footage can be submitted here.
