Dr Roopa Farooki visits Northdown Primary School

Last week was an exciting one for the youngsters at Northdown Primary School, Margate, who were treated to a visit from local author and doctor, Dr Roopa Farooki.

Dr. Farooki was there to introduce her new book, “The Brilliant Brain,” and she certainly made it a morning to remember.

From the moment she arrived, Dr Farouk captivated the young audience with her vibrant personality and infectious enthusiasm. Her talk was not only informative but also packed with humour, keeping the children engaged and entertained. She blended educational content with jokes, making the complex workings of the brain accessible and fun for the students.

The highlight of the event was the interactive quiz Dr. Farouk hosted. The children eagerly participated, demonstrating their new-found knowledge and enjoying the friendly competition. The quiz added an element of excitement to the session, and the children’s laughter and cheers filled the room as they got the answers right.

After the talk, the floor was opened for questions, and the children didn’t hold back. They asked about Dr Farooki’s experiences as both a doctor and an author, her inspirations, and her journey in writing “The Brilliant Brain.” Dr Farooki answered each question in depth, emphasising the importance of perseverance and passion in achieving one’s dreams.

Children who bought “The Brilliant Brain” had the opportunity to have their copies signed by Dr Farooki.

Reading lead Sasha Bryant said: “Dr Farooki’s visit left a lasting impression on our pupils. Her story demonstrated that with determination and hard work, anything is possible, no matter how old you are.

“The event was a resounding success, filled with learning, laughter, and inspiration. It was a day that the children will undoubtedly cherish and remember for years to come.”
