Police appeal after man in 70s hit by car and suffers serious injuries in Cliftonville

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 70s was hit by a car in Cliftonville yesterday (April 18).

The man, who was taken to Kings College Hospital in London, was hit by a grey Audi in Northdown Road at 11.10am. The road was closed for several hours while emergency services were in attendance.

A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called to a report of a collision involving a grey Audi and a pedestrian in Northdown Road, Cliftonville at 11.10am on Thursday 18 April.

“Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and an air ambulance. A man in his 70s was taken to a London hospital with serious injuries.

“A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and has since been bailed pending further enquiries.”
