Chef Tomas Eriksson and son Rio are back in the kitchen leading Ramsgate’s Albion House culinary team for a special Spring/Summer guest residency.

Famous for his unique twist on British bistro food, and with a wealth of experience after running Waverly House and New Street Bistro in Margate, Tomas brings his much-loved cooking style to Ramsgate.

Due to the success of his pop-ups at Cliffs in Cliftonville, Tomas opened his first restaurant venture in 2019 alongside son Rio with New Street Bistro in the town.

The dad-of-four then opened Waverley House in 2022 but closed last year after a wet summer and train strikes hit tourism to the isle and inflation caused overheads to rise.

But now Tomas and Rio are back with their distinctive, Swedish twist menu.

Tomas said: “My son Rio and I are back at the stoves, and we’re super excited to join Albion House, with its beautiful building and dining room. The Bistro Boys are officially back.”

Guests will enjoy Tomas’ bistro classics including the bestselling Chicken Schnitzel with Curry Mayo, Slow Roasted Pork Belly, or Pan Fried Cod with Mussel Veloute.

During the limited-time residency, Tomas’ British Bistro menu will change with the seasons, according to local produce sourced from some of Kent’s very best suppliers. Tomas will also serve Sunday roast.

He said: “Rio and I were both born in Sweden. So, the menu will always have a sprinkling of Scandinavian inspiration, especially in the summer months, like our Gravlax Cured Salmon with Dill Pickled Cucumber.”

Tomas’s hook up with Albion House was engineered by Ramsgate resident and hospitality consultant Stuart Langley, whose team have been working with Albion House owner Ben Irvine since last year.

Ben said: “Tomas is an extremely accomplished chef who has proven himself locally in Thanet. His food is amazing; I’m sure his regulars will jump at the chance to dine with him again, and new customers will be delighted with the relaxed menu in our historic dining room. I’m very happy to have him on the team.”

Open seven days a week, for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Albion House’s sea view dining rooms are also available for private functions and gatherings.
