Two people rescued from flat fire in Cliftonville

Two people have been rescued from a flat fire in Cliftonville today (February 11).

Police, fire crews and paramedics attended the scene in Northdown Road this afternoon and a road closure was put in place.

Crews were called to the fire above Thanet Cars at 4.08pm. Two members of the public had attempted to rescue those inside while crews were on their way.

A Kent Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to Northdown Road, to reports of a fire in a flat.

“Three fire engines attended and crews wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

“Crews rescued two people and provided medical support before handing them into the care of SECAmb paramedics.”
