St Laurence Junior Academy celebrates successful sponsored read fundraiser

Sponsored read at St Laurence Junior Academy

Pupils at St Laurence CE Junior Academy in Ramsgate have participated in a Sponsored Read event, collectively raising nearly £200 to enhance their school library collection.

The Sponsored Read initiative was aimed to not only encourage a love for reading but also to raise funds for new books that will benefit all pupils at the school. Pupils sought sponsors for every page or book they read during the designated timeframe.

The entire school community came together to support the cause. A notable mention goes to Taylor and Jessica, who emerged as the top fundraisers, demonstrating exceptional dedication to the cause. Their outstanding efforts played a significant role in the overall success of the Sponsored Read.

Mrs Mountjoy, the English lead at St Laurence CE Junior Academy, said: “It is truly heartening to witness our pupils actively engaging with the world of literature and demonstrating a commitment to the growth of our school library.

“The Sponsored Read not only instilled a sense of accomplishment among the children but also reinforced the value of community spirit.

“The funds raised will go a long way in providing our pupils with access to a wider range of books, fostering a love for reading that will undoubtedly benefit them in their academic journey and beyond. I am immensely proud of all the pupils who participated and grateful for the support of our community in making this initiative a resounding success.”
