Margate FC is on the hunt for a new manager due to the departure of men’s first-team boss Reece Prestedge.

Ben Greenhalgh and Elliott Leveson will take charge of the team on Tuesday for the Velocity Trophy fixture against Whitehawk as the search begins for a new manager.

A club statement says: “Everyone at Margate FC would like to thank Reece for his efforts since becoming permanent manager in April where he guided us to lift the Kent Senior Cup at Priestfield back in May after having taken interim charge in December 2022.

“Despite a positive start to the season, recent results, combined with our current league position has led us to this outcome.”

Margate Chairman, Ricky Owen, added: “This has been a very difficult conversation as there is no question as to how much Reece loves this football club. Not just as his time as a player here, Reece showed his genuine affection for the club by taking charge at a very difficult time last year.

“Winning the Kent Senior Cup in May was a highlight of this club’s recent past and Reece will be forever remembered for bringing that joy to Hartsdown Park.

“We wish Reece well for his future career.”
