Emerging Artists from youth charity Pie Factory Music will take to the stage to showcase their musical talent at a fundraiser gig on Saturday 25 November at Where Else? in Margate.
Char.B, Harmony B, Quinn Bailey, Janmakesnoise and Olivia Rogers are some of Kent’s most exciting young musicians, who together are on a journey to becoming established artists.
‘Emerging Artists Live’ is their first collective gig, promising solo performances covering a breadth of musical styles and genres from punk-political-folk to jazz, rap and electro-pop.
The event is a fundraiser, chosen by the group, in support of Pie’s Emerging Artists programme, which offers a one-year career-development opportunity for 16-26-year-olds including industry insights, producing, recording, performing and expert mentoring by music industry professionals.
Pie has recently been campaigning against proposed cuts by Kent County Council to commissioned youth services that would affect open-access sessions across the county. As they await the outcome of the public consultation, this gig represents the core of the charity – providing a platform for young people in East Kent to be creative, express themselves, and access transformative opportunities.
Pie’s Music & Creative Arts Project Manager Moa said: “This gig is so important for this year’s Emerging Artists. Having the support of their community as they become established performers will mean so much.
“This career-development programme has already helped 23 young people progress and develop their skills since the programme began in 2018, and in 2021 we launched a youth record label, Wantsum Music?
“We are hugely passionate about providing a space for young people to explore their musical talents, grow in confidence and learn about the industry to equip them on their journey to success. Anything people can give to support our continued programme is so appreciated.”
