Fundraiser for bench in memory of teenager Ethan Entwistle

Funds are being raised for a bench in memory of a young Ramsgate man who died in a crash in Broadstairs during the early hours of October 1.

Ethan Entwistle was just two days away from his 19th birthday when the car he was a passenger in with a friend and two associates was crashed into a tree on Dumpton Park Drive.

Sadly, despite the efforts of his friend Ben Brazil, who was also a passenger in the car, to carry out CPR until medics arrived, Ethan did not survive.

Ethan was a Broadstairs College student who studied accountancy last year and had just started a mechanics course this year.

Mum Keena said her oldest son was “a larger than life character” who loved Anime, computers and gaming and being with his friends.

Family member Chantelle Lacey has now created a fundraiser to pay for a memorial bench.

On the page, Chantelle says: “Ethan was so loved by so many, and so many people have asked to contribute to his funeral in his memory, however Keena would understandably like to pay for this herself, as the last thing she can do for her much loved first born son.

“Keena would like to get a memorial bench for Ethan and knowing how many want to contribute in his memory, we decided a shared bench from all those who loved him and who might like to visit the bench to remember Ethan may help everyone grieve and will be a lasting tribute to someone who has left such a huge imprint in our hearts.”

Keena added: “I would love the bench to go next to his tree – that’s how I think of that tree now – or if not up on the West Cliff because we used to spend so much time up there on their bikes or scooters when the boys were little.”

The target for the fundraiser is £3,000 with almost half of that currently raised.

Ethan’s funeral will take place on Friday 10th November at 10.45am at Margate Crematorium. People are asked to dress casual as “Ethan hated being smart.”
