Police appeal for witnesses after man assaulted and robbed on Margate seafront

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was assaulted in Margate and robbed of his mobile phone.

The robbery took place at around 11.30pm on Bank Holiday Monday (28 August).

A man in his 30s was sitting in the shelter in Marine Drive when he was approached by two men and a woman. Following a conversation with the group, he was then assaulted.

His mobile phone was stolen from him during the incident and found discarded later.

It was reported that members of the public intervened, allowing the victim to leave the area.

Officers attended the scene and a 34-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man of no fixed address were arrested on suspicion of robbery. They were released on bail until 23 November.

Detectives investigating the robbery would like to speak to the members of the public who helped the victim by intervening in the incident.
