Medals in abundance at Northdown Primary School Sports Day

Sports Day fun at Northdown primary

The sun made a welcome appearance for the annual sports day celebrations at Northdown Primary School, Margate. Eager and enthusiastic, pupils took part in a range of sporting activities to showcase their talents in front of crowds of supporters.

First to take centre stage were the youngest children from the nursery, Year R and Key Stage 1 who ran their hearts out to the delight of parents and carers getting those all-important first sports day photos.

Next up were Key Stage 2, where youngsters from Years 3 to 6 stepped up to the line to cheers from their friends and family.

Where needed, staff were on hand to cheer on and even run along with those with a few big day nerves.

Organisation of the day was a team effort between Sasha Bryant, head of PE at Northdown, and Elliot Ryan, Head Sports Coach at TSC (Total Sports Coaching) who work throughout the year to deliver sporting provision to the school in the form of lessons and break-time provision.

Elliot summed up the day: “A successful day of sports was enjoyed by all pupils at Northdown Primary School. The sun shone down on a fun-filled day with the children taking part in an array of activities from football dribbling to Tri-Golf and from hurdles to agility races. It was fantastic to see every single child, parent and teacher enjoy Sports Day!”

Sasha agreed the pupils had demonstrated Northdown’s values of Curiosity, Courage, Determination, Harmony and Aspiration, saying: “A super day of sports activities for our Early Years, KS1 and KS2. Children showed courage to run when worried, determination to try their best, harmony with their kind words of support and aspiration to achieve their potential. Well done Northdown – we are all super proud of you!”
